The construction of a Carolingian wooden tower: a didactic proposal

A new interdisciplinary didactic proposal, based on experimental archaeology, which allows students to work on content from different subjects taught in schools.

We will reproduce the steps that the ancient builders had to take to erect a watchtower: getting to know the territory to locate it, getting to know the tools and materials, solving simple mathematical problems such as equivalences in ancient measurements, height calculations, scales, etc., and finally ending up by building a 1:10 scale model of the Carolingian tower of L’Esquerda.
