Presentation
The Archaeological Museum of L'Esquerda is a site museum, a space designed to conserve, research and disseminate the Iberian and medieval site of L'Esquerda (8th century BC - 14th century AD). It was created in 1988 in response to the desire to raise awareness of one of the most important Catalan sites in the country, due to its size (12 hectares), its chronological scope and the conservation of the constructions that perfectly document the urban evolution of the different stages of settlement. The site was declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN) by the Government of Catalonia in 2006.
In 2013, the Museum was moved to a new headquarters, the former Civil Guard Headquarters, which was completely refurbished. In December 2019, the permanent exhibition was inaugurated, allowing visitors to relive the history of one of the most significant archaeological sites in the country.
